Phd Admissions scenario

I’m planning to apply for a PhD in chemical engineering at the following universities; SUNY Buffalo, Syracuse university, University of Cincinnati.
My gre score is 297 and TOEFL score is 103. My gpa is 3.5 out of 4 (according to wes). What are my chances of securing an admission in the above mentioned universities?

What are your Verbal and Quantitative score? That GRE composite score is quite low.

Have you done any undergrad researches?

PhD program admissions is not strictly a numbers game, where you can plug in your test scores and GPA and spit out a % chance of admission. Many other factors are involved - your research fit with the department, your research experience, your letters of recommendation from professors who know your work, your personal statement and how compelling your ‘story’ is, and in some cases, how you perform in a departmental interview.

Here, people in the appropriate fields may be able to talk about whether you are competitive for admission to certain programs, but we can’t really speculate on your “chances.”

verbal - 143 ; Q- 154

I have done projects on adsorption of dye from aqueous solution- undergrad project, Bioremediation- summer internship and I’m currently working on bioethanol production using renewable feedstock for my master’s research project. I have also presented a paper in a conference regarding my master’s project.

The universities you are interested in will have their minimum requirements on their web pages. You can start with looking at those and seeing if your GRE scores are going to put you into the pool which is considered fully. After that, your letters of reference will need to be strong and from faculty who know you well. I know that at my university a 297 will likely not be considered for a PhD program unless it were more lopsided in favor of the quantitative score.
