Hi all,
This is a tad late to ask, given that I already applied for the PhD program in PoliSci/IR at NYU back in December, I just want to know if anyone could give me some insights on my chance of getting in. I really like this school.
I just graduated from a 2nd tier LAC (Top 100), Double Majors in International Relations and Econs with a minor in a foreign language.
I have a decent to high major GPAs (3.5 for Econs and 3.9 for IR), but a low general GPA (3.3). I was the top student in the the PoliSci department (Received departmental honor). My overall low GPA was due to me overloading myself with courses, running 3 clubs, working on campus, and studying abroad for a year, so the language grades suffered. In retrospect, not the best decision to make but it happened.
My GRE scores are 166 for Quant and 161 for verbal (which would translate to 800 and 630 in the old scale). I got a 4.5 for AW. I don’t think playing the international student card would help with the verbal and AW since I already attended college in Wisconsin .
I am getting a little anxious about this admission.
