PhD in Poli Sci

I am curious how the job market is for Poli Sci PhDs. I am just a college freshmen so I am not sure about what I want to do, but I really like comparative politics, political theory, etc. Are poli sci doctorates in the same position as English, Philosophy and History PhDs? Or is it easier to get a job?

pretty much the same position, yeah. although poli sci PhDs can also find jobs outside of academia, working as political advisors to think tanks or NGOs or in government. granted, history PhDs can do this too, my sense is that poli sci departments encourage working outside of the university far, far more than history departments do.

if you want a job as a professor, you’re in the same boat as sociologists, anthropologists, and historians that specialize in some place other than the US or europe, which basically means things are pretty bad, but could be worse.
