PhD

Hello
I am student of medicine living abroad (In Czech Republic) and I would like to apply for PhD program in the USA. I found out there is a course called “MD-PhD”. Can I apply for such a course even though I am not “MD” student in USA? Which are the most decisive requirements for this course?
thank you everyone for an advice

If you don’t want an MD it makes no sense for you to apply to MD-PhD programs. (Besides, they’re incredibly expensive, costing more than $200,000 with no financial aid for international students.)

Most PhD programs in the sciences /technology are funded, so you do not pay tuition and receive a small stipend to live on.

You will find the requirements listed on each school’s website.

Ah thank you. So in case of MD-PhD, i would have to undergo 4 years of medicine before PhD program right?

No… MD-PhD program is done simultaneously

If you are already studying medicine in your own country, your best option is to complete that degree first. Then apply to PhD programs here.

I would like to point out that American MD-PhD programs are NOT the equivalent of the European custom of medical students writing a pro forma dissertation so that they are allowed to call themselves “Dr.” An American MD is a full doctoral degree already. The PhD adds substantial multi-year research training for students who aspire a career in clinical research.
