I’m trying to figure out what the maximum PA grant would be for half-time/6-8 credit enrollment for SUMMER 2017. I could only find what looked like yearly maximums (fall+spring?) on the website. Daughter’s home institution is out of PA in a reciprocal state, so amounts received have been pretty minimal, but summer would be in-state. Any guidance is appreciated!
You might have to call the school’s FA office or PHEAA.
Maximum full time PHEAA grant is about $4,000. But you can only get it for 8 semesters and I don’t know how this works with her portable grant.
@mommdc Summer institution’s FA did not have an answer for us. We asked. I’ll try PHEAA again on Monday. I guess what we’re wondering is whether or not only half the max will be issued since it’s only 8 credits. There’s very little summer info. posted on the website and decisions aren’t going out until June, possibly after the course starts. Half the max would still be more than the small reciprical grant she gets so we wouldn’t mind losing one of her 8 regular semesters for the summer payment. We’d just like to know if we can get her covered enough to get her enrolled for the summer before the deadline.
Yes, I assume if the max full time grant is $4,000, then the max part time grant is $2,000. But if your D is also receiving the portable grant for the OOS school, she might not get the full part time award.
As far as I know the PA grant eligibility amount depends on the school that is listed with PHEAA as the school a student attends. And that would be the OOS school in your case. You will need to find out if your D can get a PHEAA grant to take classes at a school where she is not pursuing a degree.
Yes, try to call PHEAA on Monday and see how this works.
