Phi Eta Sigma & National Society of Collegiate Scholars

my son got letters from both of these organizations. Is anyone a member? are they worth joining? any information will be appreciated.

should just do more research …and visit all the others during RUSH. Needs to find a group that has similar interest and find a organization that he feels he can contribute and have fun.

I am apart of both, along with Golden key (I mentioned it b/c I think of them as one lump sum). If your son is interested in a general way to get involved and the membership fees aren’t too burdensome then I’d join. I’ve used them both for access to volunteer work. Their announcements for different presenters (some specifically their own) or workshops (such as GRE) are very useful. Some of their volunteer involvements are peer tutoring during finals, relay for life, different drives, light the night walk, ect. Since they are legit at FSU then, at the very least, he can slap them into honors on his resume even if he isn’t an active member.

I’m just curious as to what uncfan means when he says “RUSH.” I thought Rush only had to do with fraternities or sororities…

Oh and Yau, which of the two would you say has more activities and opportunities going on? I’m only really able to afford joining one at the moment. I’ll do Golden Key next year too so I figured I don’t really need to have all 3.

I didn’t mean to restrict it to Yau btw. Input from anyone would be nice.
