I actually just got accepted, but I have a sibling that’s currently a senior. I dont mean to sound like I think I know it all, this is really just what I’ve observed! Honestly, just find one thing you’re passionate about and pursue it (an instrument, community service-be specific, robotics, chess, writing, debate). Try to not spread yourself too thin EC wise! Something I noticed in the letters I received was the importance of ‘goodness’. It’s a huge deal for the AO from what I can see! In your interview, really emphasize the ‘flexibility’ you have and how much you love challenge, my interviewer told me that was essential. Sports are awesome, but in all honesty (please don’t take this the wrong way) if you’re not the top of the top, don’t use that as your hook. Sorry, this is really long :p. I hope it helps anyways! Good luck if you plan on applying next year, I wouldn’t stress though, you have time :)

Thanks much!

Good luck everyone applying, but check out Prep School Admissions.

How far does Andover look for grades? Is it 2 or 3 years?

2 years.

If you’re an incoming 9th grader, they would like to see your 6th and 7th grade transcripts, as well as your grades from the first semester of your 8th grade year.

old, old thread…

Thank you so much! I’m applying this year and I’m quite nervous! I will have an interview this summer and your experiences helped me a lot!

Hi I’m Aisha, ok I wan’t to attend Andover but I’m not really sure if i will get accepted, I’m a tenth grader, My grades are pretty good, but the problem is I don’t do any extra curricular activites, will that hurt my chances of getting accepted?

Get back to ms as soon as you can, bye

If your grades are only PRETTY good you’re going to need to work on that if you want to be accepted.

Just revived a 6 year old thread

Just revived a 6 year old thread in the wrong section

alaisha, try going to Prep School Admissions, it’s also under Pre-College Issues. It should have a lot more on the subject.

My son is a post graduate this coming year at Andover. He is going to be living in the “Fuess House Center” I think on the second floor. I think he will have his own room. Can anyone tell me about that dorm? Do the dorms tend top be noisy? How big are the singles? How does this dorm rate?

Hi, Im applying to PA and I’m getting my results today…VERY nervous. I’m just wondering what you scored (if you dont mind telling me of course) on your SSAT? I didn’t do very well, but that was the only downside to my whole application. Do they heavily count you SSAT scores, even if your grades in school are all A’s?
