Phillips (Andover) Academy letters

Does anyone know when Phillips (Andover) Academy sends out their acceptance/rejection letters? Do they send it out on the 10th, or do we receive them on the tenth. Imma a confused as… a person who is really confused. :((

You will receive them on the 10th via fedex or priority mail and I think it was mid-morning a couple years back.

Hey, thanks, @MAandMEmom! I’m just nervous!

Like extremely anxious… my anxiety can’t wait 30 days.

@InfiniteWordsIsNotEnough [-X 32 days… try to take up a hobby to keep your mind off of it. I tried baking cookies last year while I waited. I did gain an extra pound or two, but now, I’m a part-time baker, and I’ve memorized how to cook 50 dishes off the top of my head!

Try something new!

Unless they are doing something new this year, only acceptances are sent overnight; the balance go USPS. Regardless, all decisions are posted online on Gateway on the 10th. Regardless, just relax. It will be here soon enough.

Okay, okay new hobby :-/ … Good idea. Thanks @AllSmiles2! Aww jeez, this is the first time I’m really doing this application process, and now I’m second guessing myself. Applying as a junior/freshman. Okay, okay. Gotta calm down. Frick. Wish me luck #:-S

@InfiniteWordsIsNotEnough There you go! This is my third time going through this process, so I’ve been there. Most importantly, don’t second guess. Just breathe through your nose and breathe out through your mouth. Repeat it 10 times. It works! I always do that before exams. =D> Good luck!

Thanks you all!

If you don’t get a USPS or fedex delivery, remember it’s not the end of the world. Check your email or go in through your portals and check for other acceptances. Good things come other ways too! Good Luck everyone!

Good luck!

A few years ago there was a really bad snowstorm in New England right before decision day - some people didn’t get mail for several days. There were some online decisions but a lot were still USPS or FedEx. And almost all FA notificatiin was USPS. Each school will tell you the method they use for communication soon if they haven’t already.

I’m in the Middle East. Do you think my decision letters would be shipped?

Do you mean in the example above with a snowstorm? All letters and packages would have been dropped off to the mailroom simultaneously and all would have been picked up by USPS/FedEx simultaneously (although if the snow prevented the carrier from getting to the mailroom on that particular day, then nobody’s decisions would have left on time).

Once it leaves PA’s mailroom, it’s out of their control. How long a letter/package will spend in the carriers distribution center will depend on having enough employees coming in to sort, and having truck/planes/drivers/pilots available to take them to the next stop.

I thought international students got online only, no packages.

Maybe it has changed?. I got a package back in the day, but someone with more recent experience can discuss current procedures.

There will be many highs and lows on M10… and I can promise you that anxiety ( surrounding these “packages” ) will be off the charts.

FWIW- Several years ago an accepted Andover kid told another Andover applicant ( still waiting for his package ) that " If you didn’t get your Andover package yet you got rejected " and then he wandered off and proceeded to gloat on every thread he could find. It was unseemly and hurtful- plus he had no way of knowing if that was even true.

The kid still waiting for his package said he was shellshocked and logged off. He never logged back on. I think about that kid every M10.

By all means CELEBRATE your acceptance, but have a heart and support each other , too.

I know that this should go without saying but don’t be that kid . All the best and good luck to everyone .

I think that would be a perfect close to this thread. Thank you to everyone for your kind and patient comments. Thread closed!

uhhhhhh how do you close a thread… I’m gonna get made fun of this aren’t I?
