Hello! I am applying to Exeter for the 2012-2013 school year. I am currently in 8th grade, and i will be a “prep” next year. I shiver with excitement when I think of myself as a “prep”! I am taking the ISEE on November 11th, and I am a little nervous. On the various practice tests I have taken, I have scored perfect or nearly perfect on the math sections, and missed a few on vocabulary and reading. I live In Colorado, and I am an avid rower ( crew!!) row 12.5 hours a week, and I manage my grades as well. I have the highest grades of the Class of 2016, with 4 A+'s and 2 A’s. My comments (my school has the teachers write comments about their students in every class period) are spectacualar. Each teacher said that I was mature, intelligent, always exceeded their expectations, and always added to the class discussion. I am applying to Exeter to expand my horizons, and to be challenged. I hope to wow the admissions officers, become an Exonian, and fulfill my dreams of studying at and rowing for Exeter. What does it take?

i meant Nov. 19, sorry.

@RowerChicaPEA If you show that you really want to go here you should be fine. If you show that you have determination and persistence, and you’re a good student, you have a good chance. I’m not saying you have a better chance than anyone else, but it’s pretty good.

Thank you! I was wondering how to look special in the eyes of the admissions officers. Any suggestions?

As the mom of two current PEA students- my advice - is to be yourself. Let the AO see what is unique about you. It really is that simple. Be passionate about what excites you and don’t overthink your responses. Be in the moment and good luck.

Does it help to state that Exeter is your top school for applying?

I am in love with Andover! My only problem is, do you have to be a musician to attend? I am a good athlete, enjoy photography and math, and I have TONS of E.Cs. I really want to get it… I can sing, but Im not that good…

Karate Girl,

You are aware you posted your love for Andover in the Exeter thread, right? :-)

ExeterMama, are you a mama of a upperclassman? Do you have some 2011 collage matriculation data you could share?

Haha thanks, but I also really like Exeter! :P

My son is an Upper. I don’t believe they have released the 2011 Matriculation Information anywhere at this time. I can only find the 2008 - 2010. I do know that the Class of 2011 are attending 108 different colleges but do not know the breakdown.

Here is a list of matriculations for 2009-11. I am not sure if you can access it, because you might have to have a login. Anyway… why is the matriculation data so important?

Interview is coming up. Anything I should know ahead of time besides “be yourself”?

I have the same question as LeoBro

I just answered all my questions :p. I had a beautiful interview. And the answer really is, be yourself, nothing else.

What were some of the tougher questions?

There weren’t any tough questions. They just review your paper that you fill out, talk about you, your life, how you are in school, etc. Remember it’s an interview, not an interrogation.

Alright… Why do you feel your interview went well? Do you think that they tried to match up the interviewer with you?

My interviewer said that he would put words in for me, and he told my parents I did extremely well. And no, they didn’t try to match me and the interviewer.

Wooow good job!
What sort of questions were asked?
