i'm going to exeter after senior year (because wharton wont accept me)
now, people say that exeter is like the best of the best of the best
and going to exeter and doing well will give me like really really realy high chances of getting into wharton the next apply time

The coach of the U.S. math olympiad team teaches at exeter. The competition is very extreme. Many of your classmates will be people who've taken calculus their freshman year or below.

"i'm going to exeter after senior year (because wharton wont accept me)"

Exeter is a high school, not a college. Well I think there is an Exeter College, but it isn't the REALLY REALLY good one, which is the high school.

He's PG'ing, I think he knows what he's doing. Playing any sports? I might play you because I go to St. Paul's, almost went to exeter but turned it down after my revisit. St. Paul's and Exeter are very similar. The academics are very rigorous, especially if you went to a less than great school. Don't get overwhelmed, most people who say "WHOOOOA Exeter," have no idea what they're talking about because they've never been there. My grandfather went there and I have many friends there so feel free to send me a pm if you have any questions.

Exeter can be very hard. Then again it depends upon the classes you take. I know of a number of PG's who went to exeter and went on to great colleges like Georgetown, Harvard and Amherst. If you stats were good in high school and you keep a good GPA at exeter. (A good gpa at exeter is about a B+) I think you will most definitely have a better chance of getting in to the school of your choice. Points to consider: Don't get yourself kicked out, it really doesn't help to have that on your college app, it can even hurt and PG's generally have a good time at Exeter. They are notorious for getting all of the good looking girls. Also the college councilors are excelent there. I strongly believe that the only reason I got into the colleges I did was because I had a great college councilor. Anyway if you are going just have a good time and keep yourself out of trouble. If can be alot of fun if you come at it from the right angle and you won't have any trouble making some friends. Btw I also disagree with the fact that going to exeter doesn't matter once you get your undergrad degree. The network of contacts you make at exeter is very powerful. I know of a kid who went there and then went to the university of arkansas of full scholarship, and he tells me that when ever he is name dropping for jobs he always brings up exeter first.

PGs tend to get good looking girls at exeter.

I have never been in nor heard of a class where a test was graded on a bell curve.

Exeter doesn't rank students and PG's and one year seniors are not eligible for high GPA awards.

In terms of being competitive; no, not really kids want good grades, but noone really competes against anyone but themselves. I have been in classes where noone got an A and I have been in classes where lots of people got A's. If you deserve the grade you get it.

question for meateater3087 (or anyone else in a similar situation, since this is an old thread)…
Just curious, as I recently accepted to attend Exeter in the fall as a prep (freshman), what made you pick another school over Exeter? I looked into multiple schools and only applied to Exeter (I wasn’t sure if I really wanted to go and Exeter interested me the most so I did a LOT of research and decided to apply) and I’m very interested in how other schools compare.
