Hello people!
So I was accepted ED to Middlebury Class of 2017! Woot! I know Middlebury has stellar language and English programs, which is what I originally thought I wanted to do. Now I'm considering a philosophy major, though (don't tell me how useless that is, I'm well aware :P ). I was wondering if anyone knew the strength of Middlebury's philosophy department? Is it just as good as their English department? Would I get a better education majoring in English? Any helpful comments appreciated! Thanks!

doun, congrats on your middlebury acceptance! While I can’t really comment on the “strength” of Middlebury’s philosophy department, I can tell you that one of the benefits of going to a small Liberal Arts College is that you will have time and in fact be required to try many different subjects. Don’t worry so much about what you want to major in before you even set foot on campus. Unless you are seeking a very technical course of study, such as engineering (through the combined programs) and even then, you will have time to experience both philosophy, English, foreign languages, sciences etc. Go with an open mind, enjoy the relationships with the professors and fellow students you meet… enjoy the journey! Best of Luck.

exactly what KarateDad said!
