Hello everyone, I was accepted into Middlebury College under an economics major. I would like to know how strong this program is and if kids from Midd get into top business schools, get recruited heavily etc. Also how hard is it to double major?

Lastly, could you guys tell me about the commons system and how it works exactly? And about life at Midd in general and what kind of kids generally attend?

I didn’t realize that applicants applied and were accepted based on a major. I understand that the Common App asks about areas of academic interest, but I thought that was completely nonbinding and had little to no impact on the admissions decision.

Ahh I didn’t know that. I’m sorry, I intend to commit to economics though. Sorry

Hey, no need to apologize. I just wasn’t sure if something had changed. Middlebury probably requires students to declare a major sometime during their sophomore year. So take advantage of the liberal arts - take a bunch of lower level Econ classes that are required for the major to start out, but but also take some classes in other areas that interest you. Who knows, you may find a new passion or get introduced to a new subject or dynamic professor that really sparks your interest in something that isn’t Econ.

Will do How was your experience at Middlebury? I’m just curious.

It was a long time ago…
