Philosophy of English Depts. in College

So, I was wondering; does anyone know what kind of philosophy different college English departments subscribe to about how to read a text? I mean, does anyone know, for instance, which schools tend to be more deconstructionist, or more on the New Criticism side? Or does it really vary from professor to professor, without big departmental trends? Also, any ideas as to where to find this sort of specific information?

This is kind of a random question, I know, but it seems to be the sort of specifics that would help in deciding between two otherwise similar schools.

Thanks.

I have no idea how to tell, but if this is the deciding factor between two schools, I'd e-mail the department at each for more info.

That could work. I might try it, eventually.

But, btw, I'm a HS junior; I'm just curious, really. Thanks, though.

You might go to your local university library and look up publications by the faculty. Some English departments can be quite strange.
