I’ve never seen it so clear in San Francisco! What an impressive picture! The smoke looks eerie off in the distance…almost like an enemy ship in a sci-fi movie!
Some day…Niagara Falls. Must do. And it’s doable from where we live.
I’ve loved all my visits to Niagara Falls. It’s lovely.
We love it there too. Each time I go now I think, “Oh, same old, same old” when plotting the trip. Then I get there and love every moment of walking around Goat Island or the falls - plus Maid of the Mist, etc.
I heard a show once that mused about the ionization of water being the cause of some folks’ love of waterfalls. If there’s any truth to that, I’m in the group it works for.
Happy hour at the bay, with views of downtown, the Majestic Princess in port for the day, the USS Midway Museum, and a pair of outrigger canoes.
Edit - and the Star of India at the far left.
I have a friend that paddles in the outrigger canoes.
We went daycation biking on a Coronado and my husband looked down at a beach and said “Grand Jatte.” I was most impressed that he thought of it first.
Amazing, milgymfam!
Here’s a pic I took at West Point when our son was a plebe. Somehow my camera went to black-and-white mode for several shots before I realized it. I particularly like this one because our son says it’s exactly how West Point looks to cadets all four years and why they call it “The Gray Prison.”
The color version is not much more cheerful:
Actually, I prefer the B&W image over the color.
Interesting photos. I’m from the Hudson Valley, and yes weather can be grey there.
My kids had their state level competition for Science Olympiad at West Point every year. It’s a stunningly beautiful campus IMO. Great example of collegiate gothic style.
I prefer the starkness of the B&W as well. During his sophomore year, West Point Magazine sent an e-mail to subscribers asking for garrison photos. I submitted the B&W, and it was included in a later issue of submissions. I received a note from the magazine saying they didn’t get any black and whites and appreciated the photo.
H had me googled fall festivals to find something new to do, so we wound up here two hours away. We did the corn maze and fed the goats and pigs. Beautiful day
