On the inexpensive vacation thread my memories got kindled of our Dry Tortugas section of a FL trip back in 2005. I couldn’t remember the year, so went back to look at photos. My youngest was 9 at the time. Here’s the three boys at the sign. We spent a wonderful three days there with just two rules - “always snorkel with a buddy” and “don’t leave the island without us.”

It’s not the greatest pic, but here’s one showing part of the fort and moat:

This shows more of the moat and a snorkeler. At the time snorkeling was pretty good there.

And the view coming in from the ferry - my how “average” cameras have improved a bit since then, no? Nonetheless, it’s been a fun reminisce.

This is among the most interesting photos that I have ever scene.

Great eye.

Thanks for posting.

Are we supposed to label where these pictures are taken?

Or you can make people guess! Dale Chihuly installation at a desert botanical garden? First ones that come to mind are Phoenix and Palm Desert.

Definitely Chihuly’s at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix. Ask me how I know…

My dog gazes at me lovingly throughout the day. Lol. He’s a sweetheart. Except when he’s barking his head off at nothing outside. I’m getting his dna results soon and can’t wait to find out what he’s a mix of.

There is something outside, we humans may not see it, but it is there.

Taking bets ? Springer + Boarder Collie?

That’s actually one of my guesses! I have had four purebred border collies in my adult life and saw this guy in a shelter. He was listed as a border collie, but I was sure he’s not a purebred from the get go. He has no border collie behaviors and he physically doesn’t look like one except for the coloring. Ears wrong, blocky head.

I believe that Sprollies are an upcoming breed especially in the UK. He had a sibling in the shelter also that had merle coloring. So it’s a possibility.

I’ve noticed him pointing a few times but not often. He has two back floppy dew claws on each leg, but my current border collie also had double dew claws. His coat is beautiful, lush and shiny and makes my bc look like a ragamuffin in comparison. His hips really sway back and forth when he walks, so if I knew which breeds had that trait, that would narrow things down! My other guesses are part Aussie or lab. I’ve seen photos of black and white Aussies with tails. He’s pretty big though, 60 lbs.

My Aussiedoodle puppy sways his hips back and forth and even uses the hips to try and push our toy poodles out of his way.

So I bet some Aussie in him for sure. :paw_prints:

Chihuly’s work is fascinating. There is also a sculpture at the Denver Botanic Gardens aptly named “Colorado.”

Oh, gosh, he’s a bulldozer! He tries to push our bc out of the way when we’re giving pets or treats!

He also leans on me a lot and presents his backside to me to pet instead of his head. I’ve got a bc collie facing me straight on giving me the bc eye and whatever he is giving me his backside!

I’ve heard this is an Aussie pose too? See doesn’t he just look gorgeous compared to scraggly butt to the left? Haha!

My Aussies do that. :slightly_smiling_face:

Had a first time visitor to our farm on this gloomy, rainy day with mist coming off our pond. It’s a swan, and due to the fact that it’s really timid, I suspect it’s wild vs tame. There’s only one. I’ve no idea what its story is ending up here or if it will hang around until tomorrow. I didn’t see any visible injuries from afar, but it didn’t fly away - just ambled away as I got semi-near it.

I first became aware of Chihuly’s work at the Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh when son was in college.

And, of course, the Chihuly Garden and Glass in Seattle.
