Which schools have the best programs in physical anthro and general psych? I'm looking for most comprehensive, good prep work for grad school, and a good foundation in these fields.

For physical anthropology: Harvard (Dept. of Human Evolutionary Biology), Duke, Michigan, Rutgers, Stony Brook, Emory, Yale, Arizona State, U Washington, GWU; possibly, Wisconsin

All of the above schools also have good psychology depts, with the possible exception of GWU.

(Also, check out Tulane, UC-Davis, Oregon for anthropology.)

Any LAC’s? Because I know those can offer undergrad education almost as good as the ivies, even public ones.

Good psychology depts. are ubiquitous. Most selective schools will have a fairly decent psychology dept., as its a core discipline with lots of majors at most schools.

It’s harder to find an anthro dept. at an LAC that has good coverage of physical anthropology, as those depts. tend to be smaller at an LAC. In that subfield, you can always supplement with coursework in biology, e.g., genetics, evolution, etc. and that would strengthen your preparation for grad school. You also might look for LACs that are located in cities with major natural history museums, primate centers/zoos, etc. Some consortia of LACs might offer access to courses at nearby universities or jointly-sponsored internship/field studies programs. Beloit is supposed to have a strong anthro dept., but you’d have to check their course offerings and faculty in physical anthropology.

Also check Davidson, Wake Forest, Macalester, Dartmouth, and Case Western. Since these are LACs or smaller universities, they won’t have as many course offerings or faculty in physical anthropology compared to larger schools.

Thanks! Davidson and Wake Forest look like they have a good variety of courses (inlcuding Forensic Anthro!).
