Physician Assistant help?

So I am currently a 2nd year chem. major that hasn’t finished any of the preqs for becoming a physician assistant ( like anatomy/ stats)… but i have taken SOME classes required for my major like ochem…physics… what should i do? focus on the PA pre reqs or… what…

You won’t get into PA school without the prerequisite courses. Maybe an extra semester and Sumer classes. That would also help you get the 500 hours of patient contact that is required.

Most of the programs I’ve seen require at least 1,000 hours of patient contact, and that patient care has to be direct patient care. Volunteering and shadowing usually doesn’t count; you typically have to be licensed in some way to provide care like as a CNA, nurse, EMT/paramedic, or something else. Some programs might count phlebotomist work and others don’t.

One option is to finish up and then do a post-baccalaureate pre-medical program, which usually has most of the prerequisites you would also need for a PA program. But you still have to find a way to do the clinical work.
