Is Physics 151 much more difficult than AP Physics C Mechanics?

I understand that the major difference is that Physics 151 labs are longer (3 hours), but are labs much more difficult?

Also, is the Physics 151 content much more rigorous than AP Physics C? Thanks!

It is not much more difficult and they will post 20+ years of old exams, the exams are very predictable and is more of not messing up on the spot as you should be able to do all the problems. The labs are not ALL 3 hours, that is just the time allotted for completion, some may take you an hour while some may take the full time period.

Thanks War Chant. What about the online homework? Is is very time consuming or difficult?

Well you do it in lieu of problem sets from the textbook?, I forget to be honest, its been awhile. They can be annoying sometimes especially when inputting symbolic answers but if you get stuck you can just ask a friend or google the problem, usually the answer/solution is online somewhere. Just don’t wait until last minute to start, its really not that bad if you start early.

Lately a lot of the lower-level science classes have been assigning online homework from MasteringPhysics or similar. In my experience tutoring students who have these classes, these problem sets are extremely tedious if you know the material, and if you don’t know the material they are both hard and tedious.

Thanks Hawkwings. Are the problems tedious because there are a large number of problems, or because they are more plug and chug or what? Also, about how much time does the average student you tutor spend on these problems? Thanks!

My students were not “average” by any means so they are a poor example. They are tedious because there are many problems, which consist of many parts, which include many details that you need to filter and figure out what the relevant information is and find/apply the correct equations after forming a battleplan for solving the problem. Definitely not plug and chug.

The worst questions are the ones that ask for multiple parts although some will just ask for the final answer.
