I took PHYS 197 Waves, Optics, Modern Physics at my college but for some reason it doesnt fulfill the requirement for UCSD physic 2C instead its considered to be a replacement for physic 2D. Anyone else in the same situation? I double checked assists and transfer requirement courses too before I took the class :(

the third physics class usually covers thermodynamics with waves and optics rather than modern physics, which is typically its own course. you might not have met that requirement if you didn’t have it in a different class in the sequence instead.

Phys 2A - mechanics
Phys 2B - Magnetism, electricity type stuff
Phys 2C - Thermodynamics
Phys 2D - Modern Physics - light, etc

I took the first 2 of 4 course at my CC and they ended up being equiv to 2A and 2C. Therefore, I am now waitlisted in 2B, will ihave some type of advantage, probably not, because I am NOt good at the subject. At least i wasnt at the CC lvl.

Did you finish the entire physics series or did you just jump straight into Phys 197 without 195/196?
If you took it at a college like San Diego Mesa College … It says you need Phys 195/196/197 for Phys2C according to assist.org.

They didn’t give me credit for 2 of the physics courses I took and I just asked the physics department about it and they gave me credit.
