physics 7b vs physics h7b

I am currently enrolled in physics h7b because physics 7b was full. I got a 5 on the ap physics c mechanics test, but i have never really touched the material that is taught in 7b or h7b.

is it a good idea to take h7b in the fall? or should i take 7b, 7a, or h7a instead?

It is only a good idea to take H7B if you have already taken multiviariable calculus and you are extremely passionate about physics. It is really a course for future physics majors, much more rigorous than regular 7b. What is your major?

I'm a BioE major and i have taken multivariable calculus at a CC before. I am retaking it this fall to better understand it.

My main concern is whether i should have prior knowledge of the material that is covered in h7b, like heat, electricity, and magnetism?

no, but realize that these cal honor classes are not like high school honors. the majority in the class will be physics majors and 'just because it fits my schedule' is not the best reason. do you really like physics? if you really want some type of A, i would just take 7b in the spring, but if you don't mind getting a B or C, then just take it.

i like the theory part of physics, and it does fit in my schedule really nicely, haha, except i don't know when the lab times are..

does anyone know if the entrance exam for the class is difficult or not? is it on something students should already know?

bump 10char

seriously, if I were you, and I were planning to take the class, I'd study the standard material from 7B ahead of time. Not that they will assume it necessarily, but a lot of the kids in there will know that stuff cold.

you could probably take it, especially if the regular 7b is full. I personally don't believe that you have to be a physics major or be "really passionate" about physics to take an honors class for that department. In fact, I think it will be a good experience since you'll be in a smaller class (thus have more opportunities to ask questions and such) and many of your classmates will be physics whizzes. If you got a 5 on the AP test for Mech, you're prb smart enough to do well in h7b. Besides, most of the material you'll be learning will be same compared to 7b anyways :)
