Physics Competition

hmm...
I've gotta build the lightest tower that can hold a 1kg mass.
Requirements:
-no helium balloons or materials that can be used to decrease mass of the tower.
-minimum height of .75m, max height of 2m (don't see a point going higher than min height)
-tower must have platform to hold weight (no hanging).
-tower must hold weight for 10 seconds.

go nuts with ideas !

this reminds me of two school projects I had in elementary school... in 5th grade we made towers out of straws and paperclips to hold a mass... and in 6th grade we used balsa wood to make bridges that would hold a brick... balsa wood is really light weight, they sell it in craft stores like Michaels.. I'd recommend that.
