Is a double major in physics & EECS a good combination? In fact, did any MIT students did this?

MIT doesn’t keep statistics on which double major combinations are pursued – the only way to see that information would be to get a copy of the commencement book and gather it manually year by year. MIT lists the number of degrees awarded in each major, and the number of people who choose any given department as their second major, but not which majors are pursued in combination with each other.

That said, I’m sure there have been people who have completed a 6/8 double in the past few years.

it is a good combo. It may not be common just because physics and EECS are both hard by themselves. You may consider majoring in 8A and then taking some core double EE classes.

I do know one prof in the physics dept. at MIT who triple majored in physics, EECS, and math as an undergrad.
