I am currently a first year chemical engineering student at Georgia Tech. I am considering taking Physics I and II and Calculus III over the summer at my local community college to prevent hurting my GPA. Is this a good idea? or do I need to take these courses at Tech?

Why would you even do that? Take Calc II and Physics I during the Spring, then Calc III and Physics II during the summer.

What do you want to do after college?

If you’re worried about doing poorly in physics and calculus at your university, then what makes you think that you will be able to do better in your more advanced engineering courses? I personally recommend you try to get a really good foundation in the basics now before you have to use those concepts in more advanced upper-division courses. However you do that is up to you.

Since a summer session is typically half as long as a regular semester, summer classes will cover material at twice the speed.
