Okay we’re building a Rube Goldberg machine that can crack an egg without damaging the yolk… Rube Goldberg machines are machines that make a simple task difficult… I need to have total 7 steps, including the last step where the egg is cracked…
My partner and I were thinking something like this:
A toy car hits a ball to start the machine
The ball rolls downs a ramp/pipe and hits a rod holding up some weight…
The weight falls… Then We are stuck here.
STUCK HERE
STUCK HERE
Suspend the egg on rubber bands connected to two suction cups…
Have a piece of wood carved like an axe hit the suspended egg somehow…
Dang, we are so lost and we have no idea what to do now… please help the us hopeless guys. -_-
<p>Exactly how is it possible to "damage the yolk." Isn't the yolk a liquid? Last time I checked, it's pretty hard to break water. =/</p>
<p>Or did you mean a hard-boiled egg?</p>
<p>In that case, you might want to rethink the axe hitting the egg part. That would probably be too much force + it'll be hard to pull off. Just drop like a marble from a short distance.</p>
<ol>
<li>Have a string attached to the weight and have the string go through a pulley.</li>
<li>Attach the other end of the string to a lever. When the weight goes down, it'll pull the lever up.</li>
<li>Have a ball or something roll down from the lever and trigger something else. Or just make the lever trigger another lever or something. Blah blah blah.</li>
</ol>
<p>yolk - The yellow, usually spherical portion of an egg of a bird or reptile, surrounded by the albumen and serving as nutriment for the developing young.</p>
