Physics to Engineering Transfer?

I'm currently studying physics at a LAC, with a GPA of 3.4-5 (a's in calculus I&II, as well as mechanics and e&m). I'm planning on finishing my next semester (first of my sophomore year) at the LAC, but want to transfer to an engineering program after one of my next two semesters.
My SAT from high school was 2110, with 690m and 720cr.
I have years of track and field and cross country experience, and plan on participating on the varsity team of wherever I end up. I may be good enough to be recruited, but not likely (hence this post).
I'll be doing research with optics and imaging next semester, and will take chem, calc III and more physics courses rather specific to engineering curriculum.

What do you think are my chances of being accepted as a transfer to Northeastern, Lehigh, Pitt, and other similar programs as a mechanical or biomedical engineering major?

Thanks for any replies ad/or suggestions!

Check the frosh/soph courses in the mechanical and biomedical engineering majors at the target schools. For biomedical engineering, you may have to take organic chemistry and/or biology as well. For either, you may have to take some beginning engineering courses like statics or solid mechanics, materials, electronics, thermodynamics, computing for engineers (usually with MATLAB), etc., but your current school without engineering is unlikely to have them (although some LACs with 3+2 programs do have some of them).
