physics v. economics

hi all...i'm a physics major (+pre med designation) at the moment and i'm worried about grades. it seems like it will be a lot of work to get good grades (3.8+) in physics. physics is very demanding at my school and in general, so i'm looking to change my major to something like economics. i like physics and science in general and i'm proficient in math as well, and if it doesn't matter what i major in, which subject matter will probably be easier grade-wise? thanks!

Your major doesn't matter after grades are accounted for.

if i had a nickel everytime you said that...haha

If I had a nickel for every time people asked it...

wait, so you're saying that if i get good grades, i'll look better to med schools than another person with lower grades and a "harder" major!?

lol, ok i get it. i was just joking with the previous statement. it's just a little unnerving to constantly worry about grades, major, and med school admissions.

another question...my school gave me 2 semesters of ap credit for english. as a result, i only have to take one semester of the requirements. do you recommend taking another semester of an english class or am i fine? and also, since some schools require biochemistry, what can i take after i finish it? (i'll be taking it sophomore year)

1.) You need two semesters of English taken in college.

2.) You take one year of genchem (possibly AP), one year of orgo, and then possibly one year of biochem. After that you're done with chem.

well i passed out of gen chem...

is it advisable to email schools i'm thinking of applying to and ask them about this?

Sure, if you have issues with the information presented on here AND you have a list of all the schools you're interested in, then by all means knock yourself out.

well if i'm somehow supposed to go back to general chemistry after passing out of it then i won't have to contact schools. that wasn't a shot at you mike, take it easy...

You need two years of chem - one year of orgo and one year of biochem should work fine. One year of genchem and one year of orgo also works, or any combination thereof.
