I know that if I want to take intensive chem or orgo, I need to pass a chem placement exam.

However, do I need to do the same for advanced physics classes in spite of my 5s on B/C-mech&electro?

accelerated physics 2801 requires a placement test, in all these classes, if you're desperate enough you can come in and stay, there are high rates of attrition, you have to be a little masochistic if you aren't cut out for it, and at the end of the day you'll only help the curve if you aren't qualified, so it's your loss if you aren't meant for the class, they don't care much.

Are you sure there's a test for 2801? I don't remember one

So 1601 doesn't require one correct?

excellent.

yup 2801 has a test, nothing else does, but even if you fail the 2801 test and want to do it, there are high rates of attrition so they'll probably let you be masochistic.
