Picking a New School

I put this here because im not sure exactly where it would fit.

I am currently a sophmore at UMass Lowell, I am looking to transfer but money is an issue. I was wondering if anyone here had suggestions on any schools that are not only fairly prestigious and respected (for business program) but also are affordable. I am looking to move up in size of school, bigger campus, more people, etc. I am from massachusetts, but am not opposed to going out of the new england area or anything like that. Any suggestions would help, just figured some people would be able to offer advice through their experience.

thanks

The word “affordable” is ambiguous.

What are you paying now? What can you afford?

Are you receiving aid? How much are your parents contributing?

Is Mass your home state?

yea mass is my home state. and by affordable i guess id say no more than 25k-27k range and yes i am on financial aid and have assistance from my parents

To stay within that price range, you need to stay in-state. OOS and privates are costing much more than that. And, since you aren’t an incoming freshman, aid and scholarships won’t be as generous.

Is any of your aid from the state of Mass?

25-27 K for tuition or for total cost?

Try SUNY-Binghamton or Indiana U for more prestige but higher cost. U Toronto may also fit the bill.

^^^

I don’t think we should be recommending higher cost schools. This student would be a transfer, so F/A might not be as good as he has now.

Some of his aid may be from his state.

Does anyone know some schools that fit that $25k-27k budget?

BTW…what is the source of your F/A now??? is it all federal aid, or is any of it Mass state aid? In other words, how are you coming up with $25-27k now for your present school?

mom2collegekids, SUNY-Binghamton is cheap

OOS Cost of attendance for Suny Binghamton this year is about 27,300.

Depending upon the OP’s EFC, a private school could be less expensive than an out of state public university. It would depend upon the financial aid package.

Here is the link to Suny Binghamton’s costs:

I was concerned about the OOS for Indiana U.

Plus, I wasn’t sure if some of the OPs aid was from his home state. If it is, can such aid be used OOS???

i currently have loans and some financial aid from the school. no scholarships or money form the state currently. And i meant in the 25-27 range in terms of total cost, maybe even aroudn 30 but thats pushing it
