I’m filling out the Registration Worksheet draft right now and choosing classes. Does this schedule seem doable for a freshman? Looking into a PNP major on a pre-med track and taking some marketing electives to explore business too.
As of now:
-GenChem I and recitation
-Chem I lab
-Calc II
-College Writing I
-Mind, Brain, Behavior Freshman Seminar
-Understanding and Influencing Consumer Behavior (this is a MINI-A class so it’s only 8 weeks? It’s also a grad class, can I take it?)
-MedPrep I
It’s 6 classes and 16.5 credits, but I’m guessing MedPrep I won’t be too bad since there’s no outside classwork and it’s just a weekly lecture P/F.
Is there any way I can take French 3 this semester? Do most ArtSci students continue their language? And should I take Calc I or Calc II if I scored a 4 on the AB Calc exam? (Math isn’t a strong suit - what calc classes are med schools looking for?)
When should I take Physics if I’m pre-health? And Stats?
14-16 credits is the recommended amount, and yeah MedPrep won’t be that bad so your overall workload is totally doable. I wouldn’t recommend adding in that French class this semester though. It’s your first semester of college; you can afford to take it slow.
Don’t really know anything about the Consumer Behavior class, sorry.
With that grade on the AB Calc exam you should be taking Calc II, which is required by med schools. Have you taken the Calc Placement exam yet? It’s on Blackboard in case you don’t know. There are three tests: Calc 1, Calc 2, and Calc3. Try both Calc 1 and Calc 2 tests and the next day you should get a placement notification on your Webstac account under Academics -> Scores and Placements.
Stats isn’t required for pre-health, but it is recommended. I’d recommend it even if you weren’t doing pre-health, just because it’s so useful.
Physics is required and is usually taken during your junior year, but those who haven’t taken Physics in highschool are recommended to take Physics before Chem.
That’s about it. I’m also an entering freshman doing pre-health, so I’ll probably see you around. Good luck!
Don’t take a graduate level class as a freshman. That’s asking for a lot of trouble.
