Picking teachers for reccomendations

Hey! I am applying Harvard early action and i was thinking of getting recommendations from my History and English literature teachers. Do you guyss think that the subjects are too similar? I am positive that both will be REALLY good. I haven;t taken any science classes in junior?senior year only math and i don’t want to ask my math teacher.

Choose teachers who YOU feel will give you the best recommendations. Other schools, like MIT, specifically request one recommendation from a humanities/social studies teacher and one from a science/math teacher – but that’s not the case with Harvard.

And – if you’re applying SCEA, you’re doing yourself a great disservice by asking teachers for a recommendation so close to the deadline. Just as it takes time to write a wonderful Common Application Personal Statement, it takes time to write an in-depth recommendation for Harvard which speaks to the qualities Admissions wants to hear about. Asking at such a late date for SCEA may not give you the kind of recommendation that will move your application forward. As such, you might want to consider applying in the RD cycle and giving your teachers the time to write a better recommendation. IMHO, asking teachers to pump out a recommendation in less then 2 weeks is a great recipe for being deferred or rejected.

@gibby I have already asked them. Its been a couple of weeks. I just wanted to be sure. Thank you for your answer!
