No offense to Oberlin, but they're virtual tour needs some work. Very few pics and very granulated. I'd like someone to send me a link of photos of the campus that I can view. Thanks.

Yeah, Oberlin's website is pretty awful. It was a big turn-off for me when I applied. But, they are working on it, and hopefully there will be a new site sometime next year.

In the mean time, a search or Flickr turns up decent results: http://flickr.com/search/?q=oberlin

(The ones that look campus-y are of Oberlin College.)

Hmm...how's the town? I know it's small, but is there a walmart nearby/buses that go to walmart?
How about a taco bell?

Yes, there is a walmart nearby that has buses that go to it I assume. But there's a lot of animosity on the campus towards it. And I don't think there's a taco bell...but I discovered a few days ago that there is a McDonalds by the CVS (not necessarily walkable from campus, but certainly bikeable)

Branches of virtually all of the "big box" stores are located in Elyria, about 15 minutes from campus.

Do buses go to Elyria? I won't have a car.

It's not really a big deal in terms of a decision, i would just like to know that i can go get deoderant when i run out, ya know?

Don't know, but you don't have to go out to get routine stuff. There are stores in Oberlin. Plus lots of students have cars; d gets rides from friends.

"Downtown Oberlin," a strip of stores that caters to the college crowd, is adjacent to the campus and has pretty much anything that you would need from day to day. There are at least two places that carry general groceries and items like deodorant. There is also a CVS as mentioned above and an IGA Supermarket, but those are a longer walk or an easy bike ride away. There are a few fast food places nearby, including a Subway, a Quiznos, an ice cream shop, and a couple of pizza places, but I do not recall a Taco Bell anywhere within walking distance. The Agave Burrito Bar is close by, but they are a bit more upscale and expensive than a Taco Bell. The Oberlin Chamber of Commerce has a directory of its members at http://www.oberlin.org/directory/ and you can click through to get maps of various stores to find out how far they are from campus.

There is a bus that goes to the malls in Elyria about three times a day, but if you want to do some serious shopping there you have to think about how you are going to get the stuff back to your dorm. Chances are that you will want to find a friend with a car if you are looking for anything that cannot be gotten within walking distance. If you don't need the stuff right away, you can always mail order it online.

Update: I ate at the Agave on a recent trip to pick up my daughter. For about $6 you get one of the largest burritos I have ever seen made to order from your choice of fresh ingredients, or you can leave off the wrap and turn it into something like a huge taco salad with a side of rice and beans (refried or black.) Not quite up to the standards of my favorite Mexican restaurants (to be fair they are a good bit more expensive), but way better than a Taco Bell.

Are freshman allowed to have cars?

Angel_Sushi, yes, freshmen are allowed to have cars.

As for a taco bell, there is not one in Oberlin, but there is one about ten minutes north, that has been visited many times by me and my friends late at night.

And back to the original subject of this thread: there is now a much better photo gallery at:
Oberlin College | Photo Gallery

That's a great photo gallery. They definitely have been improving the website since last year.
