I would like to see how freshman dorms look like. Take pictures of different ones. That'll b cool!

bathrooms are bathrooms...

parents: it's your kids who make those bathrooms awful. i've heard stories of **** on the wall and **** not to mention vomit (excuse my graphic rant).

I've walked into bathrooms I've never used before, and seen those things on the wall and floor.....and sinks...and toilets....

But you can't deny the grodiness of Mary Donlon....Even immediately after being cleaned, before move in......it still looks nasty. 'Specially the showers.

Any chance of getting showers and dorm pictures?

I lived in one of the Low Rises... the dorms are old, but the bathrooms were renovated the year before I moved in, and we only shared them with our suitemates, so they weren't messy at all. I would hate it if I had to share a bathroom with my entire floor!

"I would hate it if I had to share a bathroom with my entire floor! "

That's almost what the Donlon bathrooms are like.

That entire building is just stupid. The fire escape plans on the doors (the ones that are legible.....), look like thongs. For real.

Yes, Donlon is shaped like a thong lol

I've tried. But, the girls kept complaining...something about sexual harassment.

You just have to be quicker norcal...

People give Donlon a hard time but it's a really fun place to be in.

Although, freshman year someone peed on our door. What's even more puzzling is that they could've literally turned around and seen the door to the bathroom.

There was also a random bathtub in our bathroom with no shower curtains or anything. It was just out in the open. Needless to say, I didn't see a single person use it all year except on Slope Day when one guy passed out in it.

For some reason, the people on my floor liked dumping bags of chips on the floor of the bathroom and the rest of us liked stomping on those chips. God, those cleaning ladies hated us. We were such ******bags.

Weekends were the worst because there was no cleaning service on the weekends. So, we had to go 2 days without cleaning. You don't want to go 2 days without cleaning in Donlon.

@ collegehopefull -- thanks for the map! Now I see it, right behind Lynah rink. For some reason I kept thinking it was up near the Bailey / Clark area.

I helped someone!

dances

Jay, since you're taking the D40 out for a walk I'd like a shot of something (the more abstract the better) that conveys what it -feels- like to be at Cornell. I haven't had the chance to let my SLR loose on campus for a while so very curious what you'll come up with.

Ok ok, I know I said I'd start posting on Monday but I've been swamped with prelims all week and the weather has been absolutely amazing out..I totally forgot about this and just whipped out my camera, ran around Carl Becker where I know a bunch of transfers and took some pictures.

The quality is pretty bad; I've never worked with a SLR before, but here's a quick upload.
If the weather holds up I'll hopefully post some really nice outside ones by Friday once I learn how to work with this thing but I'm stuck in my room until work is done for now so here's some inside shots.

Before you click and have no idea what's what: the first three pictures are pictures of Becker's dining room. Fourth is laundry, fifth is me starting to walk towards the bathroom, (if you live in any of the new construction buildings on West, this is what they all look like pretty much), and I took a rotational shot from right to left of the bathroom, shower, sink, etc. pretty basic. There's a couple of these bathrooms on every floor with the suites having there own as well so I'd say on average it's about 4-5 single rooms per bathroom. I literally never have to wait and rarely ever see anyone else in there while I'm using it. Someone wanted a kitchen shot so that's in there. There's a little library in every hall along with separate study rooms and a bunch of places to study so I walked by and took a shot. I got hungry at the end and stopped by at the resident-only pantry. It's usually filled with cookies, donuts, cereal, fruit, etc, but dinner is about to start so everything was taken away.

I'll take care of the freshman stuff too but I can't hike up to North right now with stuff due tomorrow and everyone slowly leaving. I'll ask a friend to take them for me.

Thanks for the pics Jay1020. The bathrooms look pretty decent. Are the bathrooms in the freshmen North Campus dorms as nice as the ones in Becker?

Some are, some aren't. The bathrooms in Mews and Court-Kay-Bauer are just like those ones. Dickson and Donlon are not as nice by a significant amount. The bathrooms in Low Rise 7 were renovated just a few years ago and are very nice. I'd assume Low Rise 6 is the same way. Not sure about Jameson and High Rise 6 or any of the program houses, except for Risley which has nice, yet quite awkwardly shaped bathrooms.

Also, the dining hall in becker does not normally look like that (no table clothes, plus I think they open it into the common room to make it even bigger). That had to have been taken within the last couple hours because it is fully set up for house dinner (wednesday nights).

Get that cam to WilliardStraight and snap Happy Dave!

I'd like to see the dorm rooms & bathrooms, thank you :)
oh and kitchen
and cafeteria er dining hall ?? dining room??

Oh my God, there are resident-exclusive pantries on West? With FREE donuts? FREE pastries? AND FREE coffee? How can anyone ever complain about Cornell!
