What do you guys do to get rid of the things?! oxy pads seems to work best for me.... what do you guys use?

Razor blades. I havent had a pimple in 14 years, they usually just fade away.

Razors? Umm... I was born with clear skin but I still want it softer than softest itself.

Try this... http://no-acne.com

Sounds good.

1% beta hydroxy acid

Acne occurs when oil and dirt become trapped beneath the skin. The BHA sloughs the outer layer of skin so oil and dirt have less chance of being buried. Another way to exfoliate is to mix a tiny bit of kitchen baking soda with your regular cleanser and gently massage into the skin. It really does work wonders. If the skin seems irritated at all, then cut back on the frequency. Sometimes you have to play around with how often you exfoliate. Also, it's imperative to wash the face twice a day.

They have a wealth of information.

There are forums as well.

This stuff works great! Wash your face twice a day with it, and avoid chocolate.

you guys have to try proactiv! my son ordered some a couple years ago when his problem started to get bad and has not had any trouble since. maybe an occasional pimple or two. Its about 40 dollars total and it lasts a couple of months or longer. its only available by mail. nothing else worked for him.

Why would you want to prevent pimples? It's so much more fun to pop them

One of the students mentioned on old cc about the generic Proacitv available at Walmart. Around $18 or $19-seems the same. Also most malls in S. Ca have little carts that sell the real Proactiv-maybe in other states also.

I use Proactiv and it's pretty good. It didn't work for me for the first two weeks, so you have to just be confident in it and keep using it. But it did work for me afterwards. Plus the bottle has much more substance in it than you would think. I share it with my twin bro and we've used the same bottle for over 2 months twice a day and it still has some left in it. So it goes a far way. My face isn't 100% clear, but it's definitely better. I'll put it this way. I used to be embarrassed about going out and stuff based on my face and now I don't care one bit, even though it isn't 100% clear. But all the whiteheads are gone and it's much better.

I actually put eqq yolk on my face, and let it dry for 10 minutes, and then wash it out. It actually works pretty well (I had a pretty bad acne problem...tried a bunch of stuff that didn't work before using the egg).

If you have severe acne, I recomend Acutaine. Talk to a dermatolgist to see if you need it.

Such extreme mesures, razorblading and egg yolk? Drinking lots of waters clears the skin as well as a healthy diet. Kids in Africa or India don't even have pimples. One sure way to get rid of pimples, is to go swimming, somehow the chlorine gets rid of it.

I think not. Ever heard of 'back-ne' from pool water?

Oh, another thing to add. Don't skip out on so much sleep. That can also cause breakouts.

Why would you want to get rid of them? They add decor to your skin. They are armor to the supremely shallow! They can be called blemishes. Blemishes sounds like a lovely word doesn't it? Plus, you get to watch them 'grow up' when they become irate, similar to how a Mother fosters her child and watches it grow up. I've fostered many children in this sense. :(

Like clothing, they can be worn in many ways and sizes, from the sprouting pimple to the enraged bleeding volcano: it just depends on your taste, size of oil glands, some hygiene issues, food, and your genes. Personally, my decorations are in the nude shade: they're tiny and occur in small amounts and are not very noticeable unless you personally wanted to check my style. I've tried to selectively control the amounts and stubborness of my beauty 'enhancements' but once I stopped playing sports, my skin cleared up magically.

In the end, it's all about style. HOW DO YOU WEAR YOUR BLEMISHES?

Some commonly used treatments for acne:

Available OTC:
1) Benzoyl Peroxide (5-10%)
-BP bleaches things. Be careful. If you're applying it to your 'backne', wear a white t-shirt and tie your hair up.
2) Salicylic Acid (~2%)
3) B5/Pantothenic Acid supplements

Prescribed Medications:
1) BP-Retin-A-Doxycycline combo
-Retin-A is also effective against stretch marks.
2) Erythromycin-Doxycycline combo

Other:
1) Chinese herbal medicine
2) Wai's Diet

NOT GOOD FOR THE SKIN:
1) Apricot Scrub
-Or any other harsh scrubby face treatments. I've heard the 'round' beads are OK though.

General Rules:
1) Wash face twice a day with medicated (OTC-SA or BP) face wash. Apply moistrizer and-or OTC medication.
2) Drink several glasses of water a day, ideally until urine is clear.
3) Sleep for ~8-10 hours.
4) DO NOT POP YOUR ZIT(s) until it has come to a head (when the pus is at the top).
5) Keep your hair pulled away from your face: -> Breeding grounds for acne

There are severe side effects for Accutane. It's also very expensive. You have to be monitored while taking Accutane. http://www.fda.gov/cder/drug/infopage/accutane/medicationguide.htm

To get to Accutane, you usually have to go through a hierarchy of acne medications or not: If your acne is THAT bad...

Mint Julep and the egg yolk masks by Queen Helene are good face products. Consider them.

I think I summed things up. Please add or correct any of the information I provided.

Note: http://www.absoluteacneinfo.com has a wealth of information about your skin, (especially in the forums).

Crayon, the first part of that post was absolutely hilarious!

I just did that baking soda mask on that acne info site... wow.. it tingles and burns. You can feel it work.

Proactiv works best for me..

If its really severe and nothing works, go for Acupuncture treatments. That really works.
