What do you know about the Pioneer Leadership Program? It looks like it is the equivalent of an honors program at DU. Are there additional scholarships that go along with being admitted to this?
My D applied to this program. It is different than the Honors Program, which she also applied to. Between the two, there are ten essays. She’s hoping to be accepted to both, but mostly PLP. She’s held several leadership positions in high school and PLP seems like a great fit for her but it is competitive to get in to.
My son enjoyed the program and professors but reported that many of his fellow PLP students were more competitive than collaborative. Unless things have changed, all PLP students are housed first year on the same floor of J-Mac and all take classes together for four years leading to a minor in leadership studies.
There are no additional scholarships that go to those accepted into PLP
Small scholarships are available to students starting in the second year (between $1,000-$2,000). Students are also eligible to apply for funds for leadership development like attending conferences or international volunteering.
