I was on a friendly basis with them, but they hate my guts now. I obviously am not going to take any classes with this professor again, but should I worry if they talk to other people in the department about me? I don’t want her prejudice to influence other professors opinions and unfairly grade me harshly because of it. I don’t know if I’m just being paranoid but I’m afraid of taking classes at the same time slot as her since my school is so small and I don’t want her to see me walking into a class, find out she’s best friends with the professor of said class and then have her bad mouth me intensively behind my back.
What did you do?
She gave my friend a bad grade unfairly. I defended her.
Of course, I don’t know the details of this incident or the personality of the professor involved. However, it has been my experience that students are commonly overly concerned that they will become the object of retaliation because they annoyed their college teacher. I have found that it is the exceedingly rare college teacher who chooses to express their annoyance with a student by modifying their grade. Does this professor truly ‘hate your guts’, or is that just your projection? I think that you are way over-thinking this molehill into a towering mountain if you are now worried that you will somehow become blackballed by all the faculty in a department because you annoyed one of the professors one day.
If your going into nursing you better run. Have you ever heard the expression “nurses eat their young”?
Oh, it’s Nursing?
You’re doomed.
