This person sounds he'll be a great replacement for Nordenberg!

He was the commencement speaker at last year’s Graduation and I really liked his attitude. I’m excited to have an alumnus be the new Chancellor- I think it gives him a better connection not only to the school but also to the student body, which many people complained Nordenberg was sometimes missing.

interesting viewpoint. i don’t know much about Gallagher. Nordenberg is an alum of the Pitt law school, I think, but not of the undergraduate college

Gallagher graduated from a small Catholic college in Kansas. He got his PHD from Pitt in Physics. So, yes, he is an alum, but neither he nor Nordenburg is an alum of the undergraduate colleges.

Nordy is an alumus of Thiel College for his Bachelor’s and University of Wisconsin for his Law Degree.

Gallagher is an alumnus of Benedictine College for his Bachelor’s, Pitt for his Ph.D., and Boston University for a Post-Doc.

Considering a Ph.D. student spends 4-6 years at a school for the degree, that’s an extensive time to be here as a student (graduate or undergraduate) and does help him understand and relate to any student more than someone who never took a class here. That was all I was trying to say. Either way I am looking forward to having him as our next Chancellor.
