Pitzer (ED), Case, Reed, UC's, Lewis&Clark, Puget Sound

Hey CC,
I'm posting the colleges that I have been considering because I want to finalize my list as soon as I can so I can plan out the time that I need to spend on the essays for each. I'm planning on majoring in Anthropology and attend a HIGHLY competitive school in Northern California.

Colleges That I Am Considering:
Pitzer (ED)
Case Western Reserve University
Reed College
UC-Berkeley
UCLA
Lewis & Clark
University of Puget Sound
UC-Davis
UC-San Diego
University of Portland

I'm not sure if I should add another safety school...

Unweighted GPA: 3.92

UC GPA:4.09

Honors/Ap's: 2 (am taking Spanish 4AP, Human Geo AP, and Euro AP this year)

Class Rank: 12/400

SAT: Taken once-1910 (590M,640R,680W,11W)

ACT: Taken once-33 composite

SATII: Spanish 690/English Literature 700

AP Scores: English Language 3/US History 3

EC's:
Golf- 4 year member of school golf (top 5 team in CA)-->captain of JV sophomore year, started junior year on varsity, no. 2 on varsity this year.
I have competed on various national junior tours including the American Junior Golf Association and the Future Collegians World Tour. I have talked to the coaches from Lewis & Clark, Pitzer, and Puget Sound. They're all Div. III and told me that I could definitely make the team as a walk on in the fall if I got into the school.

Clubs/Race: Vice President of Interact, 2-year Secretary of Asian Society, Camp Everytown, two-year participant in the People of Color in Independent Schools Youth Leadership Conference, attended a national diversity conference in Boston, ELC Member, Young Democrats, Tutorial Society, Christian Service Program Core Group Member, Students Against Destructive Decisions

Volunteering: I have logged 50 hours this year at Yu-Ai-Kai (a Japanese Senior Center) and volunteer 2 days a week at The First Tee (a program that teaches kids how to play golf/the life skills that accompany it). I've spent about 40 other hours throughout HS at various other agencies but those aren't really a part of my life this year.

Recs/Essays: My recs are going to be bomb. My college counselor has been my homeroom teacher since Freshman year and we're really tight. Would also get a really great one from my AP US teacher, and my Social Justice teacher.
Essays should also be really solid.

It's kind of weird looking back on how I never really knew what I wanted to study up until this year, but all of my activities throughout my HS life have mirrored my interest in anthropology.

Thanks!

idk ur class rank and gpa are good and ur ACT is solid so i would say you would be accepted into the OR schools, but as for the others i cant chance you. hope that helps

You ACT scores are VERY good - you might think about only reporting the ACT on your applications. (They will see your SAT if you send subject scores, but if you only put ACT on your app, they will know that is the one you prefer they consider. If SAT IIs are not required, just send the ACT.)

For Anthroplogy, you might also look at (I'm sorry - I know you are trying to NARROW the list!!!) USC. They have a general-education honors option called Thematic Option that perfectly complements an Anthropology major. The classes are small (9 in one of my D's this semester). It is very challenging, but very rewarding and the themes really fit Anthropolgy. Thematic Option

Anyway, just a thought! Good luck!

Thanks for the responses! How much money do you guys think I could get through a merit scholarship at Lewis and Clark and Puget Sound?
