Pitzer, Bowdoin, Wesleyan, Test Optional Colleges - Not submitting scores. Chance me!

Hi all - thanks for taking the time to read it. I will not be submitting my test scores to these schools and want to see how I stack up against other applicants. Is it even possible to chance me without a standardized test score? Oh well, heres my info anyway!

Letters of rec: One letter of rec that I can honestly say is going to be stellar.

Essays: I’d say I am a good writer, so they’re going to be as perfect as possible. I am going to get people to read & go over them with me as well.

My declared major is history.

Thanks!

Two Letters of Rec for schools that require it. Second will be from APUSH teacher.

I would say below average chance for Bowdoin and Wesleyan. These are small schools that get a fair amount of California applications. If you are female, Bowdoin and Wesleyan have lower acceptance rates for females. Colby has the reverse.

Did you visit either?

@TurnerT thank you for responding! What about Pitzer?

Also, what are my chances at Colby? I’m looking into it. I also am applying to Wake Forest if you could give me any advice there.

Colby is not test optional but has a 30% female acceptance rate. If your test scores are in the middle 50% for Colby its worth a shot. Colby is very easy to apply to. No fee and no extra writing.

Connecticut College migh be a very smart test optional choice. Holy Cross too.

You could try Bates which is Test Optional but the acceptance rate in regular decision last year was 17% and females probably below 15%.

Wake Forest is an excellent idea.

@TurnerT I have a 1910. Should I apply to Colby? Also, my test scores are above the 25th percentile for wake forest, do you think I should send my scores or not? Thank you so much!

1910 is respectable. Colby might work given the higher acceptance rate. Conn College too. Bucknell and Lafayette might be great choices.

@TurnerT yes. I’m applying to Bucknell and Skidmore  thanks

Bucknell and Skidmore are great.

You should be OK.

I think you have a good enough list to
pick from among the school’s mentioned above. Just add a couple of safety schools and you are done!

@collegebound200

Let’s look at some numbers, Bowdoin accepted 524 female applicants last year. Of which at least 125 are athletes, international, legacy and URM applicants. That leaves 399 spots not accounting for geographical selection. Small schools like to have a student from every state if possible, so based on Bowdoin’s yield about another 100 will not come from California.

This shows why these schools are lottery tickets.

But you will be happy in the end.

Bump!

Can anyone tell me about Pitzer? I read most of their admits are those that didn’t send scores
