I posted this on the other thread, but thought it might be good to start a new thread where everyone can post their results, joy, disappointment and angst.

Jeff wasn’t very clear in the post about when the Paul Tulane awards will be released–by “coming days” does he mean in the next week or “soon” (like the next month?)

He doesn’t say for sure, you are right about that. There is no telling, but if I were forced to guess I would think first to second weeks of March.

I think so, but since there are only one or two winners of that award, and in Louisiana only, I have never heard exactly when they announced it.

Fallenchemist – You’ve written before that the students who have won the Dean’s scholarship in the past have tended to be the same ones who had received the $27K and sometimes the $25K scholarships with their admissions offers. But I don’t seem to be able to find any indication of how many students received the $27K and $25K offers. Hundreds? Thousands? Thanks!!

Any ideas on when the email notifications will be sent to students that did not receive the scholarship? Its the only time since I applied that I desperately do not want to get an email from Tulane.

An acquaintance of my son posted on Facebook that he won the Deans Scholarship. Apparently he was notified of this yesterday. As of this morning my son hasn’t received the dreadful email.

Arlmom - I am not sure how many applicants are offered these scholarships, but I think about 12-15% of the typical incoming class have this level of merit scholarships. I suspect the percentage that are offered is a bit higher, but just like about half that are offered the DHS choose to attend elsewhere, a similar pattern would hold for these merit scholarships. Some because they get into schools they desired more either with similar scholarships or even without, and sometimes (as we have seen people on here say as well) that even with the generous merit offer from Tulane it is still too expensive.

In any case, let’s say that 15% are offered those level of scholarships. Tulane gets about 40,000 applications so that is 6,000 offers at that level. Now of course most of these students do not apply for the full tuition awards, or at least for the DHS in the past. We will have to see what the numbers are for the PTA, if they choose to share that. A couple of assumptions in my analysis, but I think it is probably fairly close.

ncbug - I am not sure those are sent by email. Did you read that someplace? I don’t remember from last year, and would have to search the older threads.

From the Tulane blog: “Winners will be notified by mail in the coming days. Non winners will also be notified via e-mail in the next few days too.”

Best wishes to all who are waiting for news.

I thought from the admissions blog that the UPS express mail envelopes were mailed yesterday (Wednesday) or maybe even Tuesday at earliest so I wonder how this student was notified already.

I thought winners received a package and non-winners got the email.

Thinking if a 2-day ups express mail package was sent Tuesday today would be the first day for people to receive them, right???

Not doubting that your son’s friend posted that, just wondering how he knew unless he lives in New Orleans and got his package in one day.

I’m in Mooresville, North Carolina so it will probably take a little while for me to get anything in the mail.

And I’m sorry, but was the rest of your post directed at me or someone else? I was a little confused.

That sounds about right…Tuesday might be the day. I wonder if they’ll send out the emails after other people start receiving awards in the mail or if they will do it within the next couple of days.
