Placement Exams

So the math and writing placement exams were opened yesterday (June 1.) For people who have taken them, how hard are they? What do you have to know? How did your study?

Lets try an help each other out with this. :)

just making a comment so more people read and respond to this

Math exam is a joke

You need to know algebra/pre-calc

You don’t need to study

Math’s not bad at all.

I found the writing test to be a pain in the ass, simply because of my own laziness. I actually didn’t finish until the second week of classes, and it wasn’t an issue with the FWR class I took.

I thought the math was easy but their were some time waster questions. Just know how to prioritize the questions. Don’t spend to much time on any one question. So you don’t start speeding at the end to get through the rest of the test…

P.S. I didn’t study and I did great  You should be fine

whyyyyyy wont my score show?? it says not available!

my score is not available either… however i believed it was extremely easy, calculus students shouldn’t have much problem with it don’t worry.

dnt worry there so easy

Why would you study for a placement exam? You only want to answer what you actually know so that you get put in the correct class.

People study for placement exams because it may have been quite awhile since they last did anything with that subject, and all they need is to jog their memory on how to do certain types of problems. Just as one doesn’t want to be placed in a class that is too hard, one also doesn’t want to be placed in a class that is too easy.

Good point, of course I can’t see myself even thinking about studying for something like that (Especially right at the beginning of summer!)

I really need to! I opted to take AP Stats instead of pre-calc, so I haven’t done Algebra II since my junior year. I glanced at the practice stuff they put on the website and was just like “…crap.” It’s all foreign to me now!

whats on the writing exam? how is it formatted?

We have to read a 10-page article and then write a paper that is somewhere around 700-800 words.

what about the chem exam, how was that one?

Are there any practice problems or anything for any tests?

The math test has a few practice problems
