placement test?

when is ours? do we sign up online somewhere or will Penn mail out info?

Placement tests are generally held during NSO or the first week of classes. Language tests may have an online component. The department websites should have details. The NSO website might also have some information.

Why would you have to take placement tests…? Do you have to take them?

placement tests are for students who want to get credit for a class and skip ahead to higher level courses

Only for language classes is it required to make sure you’re in the right level. Otherwise, it’s completely optional.

What about for bio? I heard that you need to take the placement test even if you have a 5 on the AP Bio exam. Is that true?

bump about the bio thing

i think if you get a 5 on the bio ap, that means u get credit for graduation, but u can’t use that to skip ahead to a higher level class or use the credit the fulfill major requirements.

This page–and the links it contains–should answer a lot of questions:

[By the way, if old farts like me can find this stuff on the Penn web site, I’m confident that bright, tech-savvy kids such as yourselves can, too. ]
