My assumption is that testing administered during orientation sessions will be scored ASAP so that students can register for the appropriate session. Wouldn’t that make sense? Otherwise, what would be the point? Any student coming to summer or fall orientation will be registering for classes at that session, therefore will need their testing results at that session. If this is faulty reasoning, someone please correct me.

@eclipze: Usually systems in the US are set up to work properly and in accordance with demonstrated need. There are exceptions, of course, but in this case, testing is administered specifically for immediate results so that students can be placed appropriately. I would never say that it is a perfect system, but it is designed to fill the need.
