Business student who parties maybe twice a month (not every other night). Study late night until 3 am usually b/c start studying late night :)

I'll be going to the July 6th transfer orientation but I plan to get there on the morning of July 5th (Sunday) so I can look around the off campus dorms and apartments.

So far, I am planning on visiting Dobie, Castillian, and University Towers for off campus dorms

What are some other good choices for off campus dorms (if any) and some good apartments (locations) to consider touring?

Would prefer kitchen and private / joint bathrooms, and a living room would be a plus (not much of a concern) & wouldn't mind Roommates (up to 4 i guess)

Looking for a nice play to stay my sophomore year. I was planning to move on campus my spring semester of sophomore year (if i could) but would there be a problem with lease agreement, etc (besides moving)?

No other off campus dorms. The complex that offers the best summer deals near campus is probably Jefferson 26, which is at 26th St and Nueces St, two blocks west of campus. I’d also look at any of the Quarters properties or any of the Block properties–they are a little pricer but usually cut rates to get full.

Kitchen and private bathroom augh.nd a living room sounds like an apartment. They will usually match you with roommates if you don’t come with a group. This may mean just plugging you into a hole though.

There will be a problem with the lease if you plan on moving on campus spring semester. One is that all on campus contracts are August to May, so there is not likely to be space open, and if there is they will offer it to kids with supplemental contracts. Secondly is that almost all apartment leases are June to June or August to August, and you’d have to find someone to take over your lease (sublet) to. They absolutely will not give you a August-December contract, especially not in West Campus. They will have you sign a full year contract to guarantee that they have the money, and it’s up to you to find someone else if you move out, or else pay the rent anyways.

helpful reply as always… i’ll def. check out Jefferson 26 but is that really what those apartment complexes are called “block and quarter properties”? if i have to ask someone on my way… & Ill guess Ill now plan to stay in for the whole sophomore year. Thx again

Quarters is nicer than Block – but block on 28th is really nice. i would go with quarters. But there are also nice apartments like 21Rio, Vintage, Texan West Campus, Venue – lots and lots of choices.
