HELP! I had gotten a plagiarism warning for a music PowerPoint, but she didn’t mark my grade as a zero and left it at the 92. I had a meeting with the principal and she said it was a learning experience, and that it is a warning, and she wasn’t going to notify my mom but if this happens again she will. It is now report card conferences. Do you think the teacher will write that I plagiarized in the report card comment section, or tell my advisor to tell my mom? If not the latter, would she write it in the music comment section of the report card? I don’t think it will happen, but it would be weird in the comments if she wrote “good student” after I got a plagiarism warning.HELP I AM HAVING ANXIETY ATTACKS.
It seems as if your plagiarism may have appeared unintentional, to the teacher, and these days the first step is always a warning and education on ethics, anyway.
I think you should tell your mother, yourself. Regardless of what the advisor does.
But it was an accident. My mom is very strict and would literally die if she found out. I’m very ashamed, I just don’t want my advisor telling her, as things are difficult right now. I want to tell her in my own space. But do you think he would mention it?
Your mom won’t die if she hears of this. Your mom knows you aren’t perfect.
Why not ask your guidance counselor to please not mention it to your mom? Far better to be proactive than to freak out over what might be nothing.
And FWIW, just tell your mom it was unintentional. If it was deliberate, you’d have a zero. Or, you may have just had a close call, so make sure nothing like this happens again. In college there won’t be much, if any, forgiveness for plagiarism.
And I just saw that you posted about this in March! So it appears there is a lot you need need to explain. Please clarify the situation. There appears to be misinformation in one of your two posts on this topic. Link: Plagiarism
