I was just wondering- though I've always been sure that I've wanted to go through the Plan II program for sure, I also plan on double majoring. However, it's picking which second major that is presenting a few questions for me.

I know there are quite a few people that go through the Plan II and premed program. I'm looking into getting a bachelor of sciences in psychology. Though I'm definitely planning to work and study hard (I was never much of a party person anyways), would the course load be too much, for me to go through the psychology major and all the math/science classes, and Plan II's curriculum?

I also noted that in the premed timeline I found, that physics is taken in junior year in both the premed program and Plan II, as well as some maths. Would I just need to take Plan II's physics for it to be able to cover that math requirement, as well as other maths?

It's just looking at all the math and science classes for both programs (but mostly premed) that confuse me. And is there any way I can use, perhaps, AP scores for calculus, which I am taking this year as a senior, both AB and BC, to get rid of a math credit?

Hi there! I’m a Plan II/Pre-med junior, and I will warn you that a double liberal arts major and pre-med will be a LOT of classes; I’d advise you to take a fifth year, though there are certainly people who do it in four. The Plan II workload, in my opinion, is a good bit lighter than the pre-med one, but your mileage may vary.

Plan II Physics will not count as the physics you’ll need for pre-med. I would advise that you replace P2 Physics with the Biochemistry sequence (one of the allowed substitutions) as it’s supposed to be extremely helpful in medical school. As for math, in Plan II, you need to either take Plan II Math (which is a pretty fun class) or finish a Calculus sequence, but you’ll need at least one Calc for med school anyway. I claimed my AB credit and just took Plan II Math, and now I’m done with math. The problem is that I don’t think you can claim enough credit from AB and BC to finish an entire Calc sequence. Also, I’d advise you AGAINST starting in M 408D, as I’ve known a lot of people who have regretted that decision. I’d advise you to take the longer but easier calc sequence, 408 K-L… Claiming credit for AB and BC should allow you to take L and M, if not just M.

Okay, thank you so much for your advice! Taking the AB credit and then just having that 1 more math class seems like a good idea.

I’ve seen people talk about taking a fifth year in the other Plan II threads. If I did, what would the timeline for the pre-med math and science classes look like then, as it spans across 5 years and not 4?

How many classes am I looking at per year, then, if I try it in 4?
