bluefalcon, luckily for me, I switched my category this year (because I was scared that since I won 1st at nationals last year, I'd lose and I'd be embarrassed) to a different type of test, so I already qualified for state and I won't have to go to Area WOOOO

haha libby, you're missing out, our medical academy is awesome! Well, I would have ended up here anyway, I'm also zoned here so I'm stuck. Yeah you're just about the only other fbisd kid I've seen on here. I share this screen name with my friend and she goes to HISD, and we've seen quite a few HISD kids on here though.

I didn't get into BME at UT (my friend's dad is a professor there and he said they only accepted 180 kids because they want 100 people in the program) and so I was really upset and was just like "uhh forget UT" but now I got into Plan II so it's obviously back on my list!

Congrats j07! Nice seeing you here on the UT forum!

bluefalcon245, I'm still waiting on Stanford, Princeton, and Rice. I kinda already got into Wellesley through their early evaluation system, but it's not "official." Wellesley is my first choice but I most likely have to go to UT because it's the cheapest :[

I got both my Plan II and DS acceptances yesterday-but I'm only going to do DS as they said that you can take whatever Plan II classes you want (plus history isn't really my thing...that's an understatement)

Stats:
Rank: 5/562 W GPA: 5.32, UW 4.0
SAT I :750/750/620
SAT II: 740 Chem, 700 Math II, let's not talk about Spanish...
ACT: 33
5 APs this year, 3 last year (chem-5, eng/span-3)
Main ECs:
HOSA like none other (Med Reading 1st at area past two years, 4th at state [hence why I don't like Klein or Hightower, and it didn't help that HCHS's principal was one of our judges], also advanced in Kaiser)
Mu Alpha Theta (VP, records official)
Sociedad Honoraria Hisp

The Plan II requirements for history aren't any different from the university at large as I understand it. They require 6 hours of American History (which is taken care of if you took the AP US history test) and 6 hours of World History in the same region (which is taken care of if you took AP Euro history).

The main differences between Plan II and non-Plan II curriculum is: 2 semesters of world literature, 2 semesters of philosophy, Plan II logic/physics/math/bio, the 3 TCs and the thesis.

I would double check to make sure DS people can take "whatever Plan II classes they want". Congrats on getting into both--quite an achievement!

^ I know I shouldnt be questioning this but it seems that the dean scholar acceptance is quite alot this year. Didn't it say there are only 30 or so dean scholars? I really suprised cuz my stats aren't all that great

lol well there must be something great about you that impressed them. :) what makes it seem like the ds acceptance is higher than usual this year?

bluefalcon, i think they come out gradually, because mine came waaay early, like even before the dean's scholars scholarship interview thingy. i was pretty shocked. but the rest should be coming pretty soon, since april 1 is approaching.

This was the first time anyone from my school did it-14 people and 2 of us made it? sweet.
I have no idea what to expect at state since I guessed my way through the area one. But 1/3 of the people should make it onto Nats.
