Please answer a question about Drama schools

My daughter just got into ADAA (The American Drama Academy) She has deferred her enrollement until fall of 2007 due to finances (almost $20,000 a year not including room and board) We have heard it is a very prestigious school. I found a thread that ended in April of this year about it but was wondering if anyone could give me more information. I posted all of my circumstances on my first post and didn't get one reply so I thought I'd make this one shorter in hopes that I might get the info I am looking for.
Thank you ahead of time if anyone can help.

Take a look at the forum for Musical Thetare...It is listed under majors- there is quite a bit of information about ADAA there. There is also a forum devoted to acting majors- but generally less active than the MT one.

Hi!
I just found this board again and don’t know if you are still here. But I wanted to thank you for your info! Hopefully this will help another bunch of moms looking for the same advice! Funny how time flies…My daughter has since moved three times… and is finishing up her second year at AADA. She is currently working on her GRAD plays and considering auditioning for THE COMPANY which is the 3rd year program which impressed her and I both and was part of our tour when she auditioned for the school.
Time flies… Just a note to any out there who are moving to LA.
My daughter’s school is in Hollywood. She moved with a friend from our town to the area thinking Northridge which was about 15 miles from her school was close. After all 15 miles in our town takes about 15 to 20 minutes to get there. NOT in LA! She was driving an hour to an hour and 15 minutes both ways! Soooo we moved her to Hollywood/LA to Park La Brea Apts. VERY expensive… A one bedroom can be as much as $2000! So her roommate and her got a place and split the rent and signed a 6 month lease. First life lesson!!! 30 days notice means 30 days! NOT 29 day notice etc… so they ended up staying there a year, adding another roommate they called the boy behind the curtain… LOL… and have since moved to West Hollywood… less the boy behind the curtain… and less rent but in a nicer area.
I’m not such the worry wort though… I pay for a lot of the bills… one being the cell phone… and she still texts me every night (God bless her) “I’m home mom” Sorry… she’s 21 and I still need reassurance. LOL…
Well, I just had to thank you for the info. It was still useful!

I meant not 31 day notice… LOL… If she had given them their move out notice at 29 days… they would have been fine. Also…2 fender benders and a ticket later… I am just thankful that these are all life lessons that hopefully have made her wiser. We have to let go and let God be in control… I just have learned not to over-react and to try to be the calming, soft place to fall kind of mom when I get those panicked calls. Hopefully this will be helpful for those moms out there that are getting ready to help pack up their kids for next fall.
