Please chance me for NYU-Stern, Boston University, UCBerkeley, UCLA, Cornell, Syracuse, Fordham and USanDiego

I forgot to add, I am ranked number 3 out of 30.
So I’m guessing that could be said as top 10% with the most rigorous course load offered by my school.

Shameless bump

SO many views yet no chances? :(

You’re not saying whether or not you need aid. You can get into several of these schools (e.g. BU) if you can pay full freight. Otherwise, much less likely.

Sorry about that. No I will not be needing aid. Thanks greennblue!

Bump for more chances

Should be in at BU, Syracuse, Fordham and San Diego. Competitive at NYU. Cornell’s a reach but a reasonable one. Hard to judge Berkeley and UCLA since they have so few out-of-state students. Why are you worried?

ur mad good

u would get into boston …NYU

dont really know abt cornell

My biggest fear is that I don’t get in…anywhere! Thank you gadad and indianguru. I have my fingers crossed. xx

those r pretty good and hard schools…

have some backups too …

Boston is a shoe in for you … Make sure your essay is good as well…
I’m also from South Africa doing A Levels and IG’s. You study at BIC?

You are applying to very competitive schools.
NYU-Stern: ranked up there with Harvard. Its one of the best business schools in the country. You’ll have to be something super special
Boston University: Theres a chance
UCBerkeley: Its a “public ivy”
UCLA: Yet another “public ivy”
Cornell: It IS an Ivy
Syracuse: Also competitive, but theres a chance
Fordham: Possibly
USanDiego: Probably

I agree with indian guru. get some back ups!

boramk - thanks hey, fingers crossed! No not at BIC :)

saramunki - haha yeah i think its obvious Stern will not happen. but thanks hey

Your low scores in SAT I and SAT II should keep you out of Cornell or any other Ivy or any other place like the Ivies. The likes of Syracuse may still be within your reach, though. Also, improve your GPA, if it is possible.

Yeah. Try improving your grades a bit. It’ll help you a lot! :)

I don’t think you should worry about getting into most of these schools (BU, NYU, Fordham, Syracruse, San Diego). Your SAT scores and GPA is pretty good, just make sure that your essay and supps are as strong. Try to incorporate as much of your diverse background as you can, because in the end, they do want diversity. And actually, Cornell is a very high possibility. I’m Moroccan and a friend of mine got into Columbia with a 2080 and a 3.8, so just reach high.

I was actually hoping you might also give me some advice on my chances of getting into the schools I’m applying to. So there’s Barnard, Vassar, AU, Smith, Ohio Wesleyan, Roger Williams, Simmons and maybe Adelphi.

So yes, I’m from Morocco. My school unfortunately doesn’t offer any AP classes and such, its really small and 2011 is only its 4th graduating class. I’m not too sure about my GPA since I am waiting on my term grades, but it should be from 3.3-3.5. My SAT scores aren’t stellar either. I have a 600 writing, 600 critical reading and 530 math.

I speak 4 languages fluently, Arabic, French, English, and Spanish. I have loads of ECs:

Volunteered in a center for handicapped children and at a local orphanage (2 separate years).
Theater for 1 year
Debate Club for 1 year
Internship at an online magazine for a summer.
Internship at a 5 star hotel for another summer.
Spanish classes for over 2 years
School newspaper for one year and literary magazine for another year
J.V. Volleyball and Varsity Soccer for 2 years each
Student Ambassador for 1 year

So yeah, that took up a LOT of my time, and I really hope they’re all worth it. As for my majors, I’m not sure what I want to do yet, I’m either going to major in psych or philosophy.

I got 106 on my TOEFL score, I have excellent teacher recs and a really good personal statement (that is if my guidance counselor is being honest, which I’m pretty sure she is).

Thanks!!

Thanks, I just hope I get into one of these schools :)

Here are my chances for you artemisakadiana:
Barnard - low reach
Vassar - low reach (beautiful school - i wish they offered a business major so i could apply haha)
AU - high match
Smith - low reach
Ohio Wesleyan - in
Roger Williams - don’t know the school, sorry
Simmons - don’t know the school, sorry
Adelphi - in

You’re actually in a much better position that me as far as the whole “diversity” thing is concerned because you’re Moroccan (very cool :)) Despite living in South Africa all my life, my passport is Indian - I just hope they will take into account how long I’ve lived here because academically I cannot compete with Indians (and other Asians) who are super smart.

Good luck! And further bump for any more chances? :D
