So my sat1 math was really bad, but i think i compensated with my sat 2 maths, and 5 on AB Calc, so assuming i get the amazing teacher and counselor recs, along with solid essays, what do you guys think my chances are like?

You should REALLY study and retake SAT just for the math. Get it to 700 and you’ll be fine. Being from WVA is a plus. Your grades and rank are great. Emphasize your leadership skills and REALLY work hard on your essays. You have a great chance. However, you MUST apply early decision!

Yeah I’m applying ED for sure, but I’m not going to retake SAT 1s, any other opinions?

My informed recommendation is that you wait and apply RD. You probably won’t be accepted ED with those scores.

yr worried about your sats and yet yr not retaking them? u should retake them. they’re very much on the low end. u need to retake them. idk why u think u wouldn’t

try to get up to a 2100+ at least.

getting to 2100 is pretty symbolic but applying ED can really help you’re app as well. SAT scores are becoming less and less important in my opinion. I got in to a joint degree with 2120 (hence my bias against the SAT lol…). Work on writing killer essays.
Good luck!

If you are full pay, that might give you a boost for ED.

^how would they know that you are going to pay full?

^ Penn admissions, including ED, is need-blind for US citizens.

I can not retake the SAT, because I will be unable to make the test date, and there are no other dates before the ED deadline. I could probably get my SAT to 2100 before RD deadline, but probably not too much higher than that. My math was poor in my SAT 1, but I feel that the college will recognize that I can do math, because of my Math 1 and Math 2 scores. So 2 questions:

Am I better off waiting for the RD deadline, because in reality the SAT 2s do not compensate for the SAT 1s?

Are the slight boost in scores that much more important than displaying my commitment and immense desire to attend the school via applying ED?

If you could get your scores about 70 points higher it’ll make a difference. Wait until RD.
