You have a lot of impressive ECs and awards but I’m not sure it that’ll be enough to get you into Cornell or Hops but it’s worth a shot.
Good luck!

American: Match
Wake Forest: High match
UNC-CH: High match
NC-State: Low match

You think UNC chap and Wake forest will be reaches for me? Why? @ws62497

what are you applying for ?

Oh sorry, I didn’t notice you’re from NC, then it might be a low reach for you and Wake is also still a low reach/high match. This is only cause your GPA is a little low but low reach means you have a really good chance. You’re just not guaranteed admissions as opposed to like with American University.

I don’t have any predictive powers, but my guess is that anything is possible depending on things you have no control over: how many applicants are from your region, what the reader of your application considers, and so on. You have clearly challenged yourself in high school and done some impressive programs such as Summer Ventures.

Some of the colleges you are applying to may have a large number of applicants from the northeast and may consider that you are from rural NC. Also, colleges assess a student according to their opportunities. For instance, taking 13/15 offered AP classes is considerable.

It is good that you have applied to a number of reach schools, because you just can’t predict these things, however, I also hope you have applied to some solid safeties. The best thing you can do at this point is keep your grades up ( colleges will want midyear reports) and continue to do your best. If you receive any awards or other recognition before the colleges decide, you can update that information in your file, and also if you decide take the ACT/SAT or subjects tests again and do better. I don’t see where you have taken subject tests, but I think they are required for some of the colleges on your list, so check and be sure you have taken all tests you need and if not, sign up ASAP.

For some suggested other colleges to add to your list: U South Carolina, Clemson is good in the STEM areas you have shown interest in, and Furman. UNC Charlotte would be a good “safety”. I generally don’t like that term because while colleges like UNCC are less selective than the colleges on your list, I think they can be good opportunities.

Okay thank you! @ws62497

@Pennylane2011 Thank you so much! NC-State was going to be somewhat of a safety (just based on the people who have gotten in from my school in the past), however, I’ve had some recent doubts. I have applied to Lenoir Rhyne, High Point, Elon, and UNCC as well.

@bigdreamer54 I’m applying for Neuroscience and/or psychology and biology double major.

I’m glad to see some other colleges on the list. I think NCSU and UNC are possibilities for you, but because they are probably the most popular colleges in the state and get so many applications, I don’t think it’s possible for anyone to assume admission.

I think it is good for students applying to very popular colleges to have some less selective colleges in mind as well.

Good luck to you and come back and post the results.
